Bomb Squad Investigates Grenade Found in West Hartford Yard

West Hartford Police closed Warrenton Avenue for about an hour Thursday afternoon after receiving a call about a grenade found in the bushes.

West Hartford Police were contacted after a youth found what appeared to be a grenade in the bushes along the driveway of 193 Warrenton Ave.

Warrenton Avenue was closed for about an hour, and area residents were told by police to stay inside.

West Hartford Police called in the bomb squad to investigate.

According to police, the grenade turned out to be a “replica that anybody could buy at the store.”
