For the second year in a row, the Junior League of Hartford will holding their annual fundraiser, The JLH Volunteerathon: The Junior League of Hartford Volunteer Marathon.

A marathon is 26.2 miles, and for 26.2 hours straight, Junior League of Hartford members will volunteer in area non-profits or “community partners” throughout the Greater Hartford area that can use their “woman power” to make an impact in the community, while at the same time raising funds for the programs and projects of the Junior League of Hartford. The JLH Volunteerathon kicks-off on Friday, May 5, 2017, at 4 p.m. and ends on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at 6:12 p.m.

The list of community partners who will be collaborating with the Junior League of Hartford for this event include: Riverfront Recapture, Inc. (Hartford), Makerspace CT (Hartford), YWCA (Hartford), Playhouse on Park (West Hartford), The Children’s Museum (West Hartford), the American Cancer Society (Rocky Hill), Girls On the Run (West Hartford), HARC (Hartford), Camp Courant (Farmington), Gifts of Love (Avon), Capital City Education Alliance (Hartford), Junior Achievement of Southwest New England (Hartford), John J. Driscoll United Labor Agency (Hartford), My Sister’s Place (Hartford) and The Clothes Horse (West Hartford).

The list of sponsors that will be supporting the Junior League of Hartford include Landmark Partners and Total Wine. For a list of the latest sponsors and community partners, visit the Junior League of Hartford website at: www.JLHartford.org.

Much like a typical marathon running race, the general public can donate funds to support the JLH Volunteerathon by contributing online through the JLH website or through a JLH Member’s individual Active.com volunteer fundraising page. Each JLH member will have their own volunteer page to raise funds in support of the JLH Volunteerathon.

All funds raised will benefit the Junior League of Hartford’s community programs and projects, currently focused on “Empowering Women and Girls to Overcome Obstacles.” The League’s latest efforts include partnering with Junior Achievement of Southwest New England and running the Career Connections for Young Women program, whose purpose is to provide high school women with a clearer understanding of their potential and to create a powerful vision of what they can become.

The event will culminate with a “Finish Line” party on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at City Steam Brewery in Hartford, where Junior League of Hartford members and their guests will celebrating the event’s success.
