Four food trucks will be showcasing some of their finest local fare, complemented by local craft beers, at the LOCAL/SOCIAL Pop-Up event on Wednesday, June 7, at the Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society.

Tate Norden, who co-owns the West Hartford-based Iron & Grain Co. food truck with his cousin, chef Adam Belward, is hosting the pop-up along with the Noah Webster House. He said that plans for this event have been in the works since the winter.

In addition to Iron & Grain, which operates out of a refurbished 1959 Chevy Viking and will pair up with West Hartford-based New Park Brewing, other participating food trucks and brewery partners are Caseus with Black Hog, Chief Brody’s Banh Mi with New England Brewing, and Mercado with Kent Falls Brewing.

Each team will use local ingredients to prepare their dishes, providing an opportunity to also showcase local farms. The dishes, and the accompanying beers, are being kept as a surprise, Norden said.

Tickets include all four food courses as well as all four beers – and a special “boozy popsicle” (G&T or Bourbon cherry) dessert by caterer Let’s Start from Scratch.

The event is a friendly competition between the food trucks, and patrons will be able to vote on the best pairing, but Norden said it’s really about showcasing the creativity and culinary expertise of the food trucks, and to provide a taste of what Norden hopes guests will experience on a regular basis at Gastro Park – the food truck concept he is developing and hopes to open a site at 637 New Park Ave.

“It’s a cool, unique event to highlight the great food trucks operating in the area,” Norden said.

There will also be music, courtesy of DJ Connie Carmona.

“We’re excited. It’s a little glimpse of what people can come to expect at Gastro Park,” Norden said.

It’s also a chance to support the Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society – an organization which Norden, a West Hartford resident, said is one of the things that makes the town so special. He said he hopes to raise a $1,000 donation through the event.

LOCAL/SOCIAL will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, from 6:30-9 p.m. at the Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society, 227 South Main St., West Hartford.

Tickets, which are $65, include all four food truck/beer pairings as well as dessert. Tickets can be purchased online at noahwebster.yapsody.com. A limited number of tickets may be available at the door Norden said, but seating is limited for this one-night-only event. Guests must be 21 years or older to and a valid ID will be required.
