Playhouse on Park‘s first Mainstage Series show of 2016 is the award-winning production The Chosen, adapted by Chaim Potok and Aaron Posner. Opening night is Jan. 29 but there are preview days on Jan. 27 and Jan. 28.

Potok’s award-winning novel is the story of two boys, two fathers and two very different Jewish communities – “five blocks and a world apart” – in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, in the 1940s. Set against the backdrop of WWII, the revelation of the Holocaust, and the desperate struggle of Zionism, The Chosen remains not essentially political or religious but deeply human. Themes of friendship, family, and life choices run throughout this beautiful story that chronicles a path to understanding and reconciliation.
