Registration is open for the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce’s 29th Annual Golf Tournament. The event returns to the Hartford Golf Club on Norwood Road in West Hartford on Monday, Aug. 31, 2015.

“We are looking to bring in 170 golfers,” said the Chamber’s Executive Director, Barbara Lerner. “This is the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce’s signature fundraising event, and year after year, our members demonstrate their strong support for our organization and its mission to connect businesses and enhance our community by participating as sponsors, golfers and dinner guests. We’ve had a great year in terms of increasing membership, implementing terrific professional development programs, and honoring those member businesses who achieved milestones in their years being active with the Chamber. Now, it’s time to celebrate and infuse even more purpose and excitement into the Chamber, and this is certainly the event to do that.”

Golfers and dinner guests are encouraged to register early at www.WHChamber.com , as it will close once capacity is reached.  The price for an individual golfer is $260

People’s United Bank is the presenting sponsor of the event. Corbins Corner Shopping Center, Webster Bank, and New Country Motor Car Group are platinum sponsors. Gold sponsors include Westfarms, Wiremold Legrand, Blue Back Square, AAA, and Farmington Bank.  BlumShapiro, Comcast Business, Colt Manufacturing, and The Simon Konover Company are this year’s silver sponsors.

The dinner in the Club’s Main Dining Room, sponsored by The Mercy Community and United Bank, will be $80. per person for Chamber members who do not plan to golf ($90 for non-members.)  The tournament dinner doubles as one of the Chamber’s monthly Business After Hours events; it will be a seated meal prepared by the Club’s renowned culinary team.

Among the new features for this year’s tournament, Lux, Bond & Green will sponsor a hole-in-one contest that would provide the winner with a new Rolex watch. New Country Motor Car Group will provide a two-year car lease for the golfer who makes a hole-in-one shot on the hole it sponsors.

In addition, after a unanimous vote from its Board of Directors, the Chamber decided to forego giving each golfer a gift this August, in favor of making a donation of up to $2000 to the American Cancer Society.

“Many of us who are fortunate enough to take part in Outings like this one know that over time, we collect lots of golf umbrellas, polo shirts, and ball markers,” said Chamber Board Chair Cindy Cicchetti of People’s United Bank. “As we started talking about our 29th Annual Tournament, we wondered what we could do to make a more powerful impact in the community with those budgeted dollars. Our Board gave us a clear and swift directive, and we are very proud to dedicate the funds that might have gone toward a small token into a bigger, better cause.”
