West Harford Photographer Patty Swanson will team up with Kay Bagwell to take pet portraits as a fundraiser for Kenway’s Cause.

A special portrait event at Naturally Dogs and Cats in Hartford will benefit local dogs and will also provide an opportunity for people to get professional quality portraits of their pets.
“Food for Fido” is a pet charity event, scheduled for Saturday, June 18. Professional photographers Patty Swanson of West Hartford and Kay Bagwell of Killingworth have teamed up and will be raising funds for Kenway’s Cause, an organization that provides support for the dogs at the City of Hartford Animal Shelter.
All of the fees charged for the photography sessions will be donated to Kenway’s Cause, and Swanson and Bagwell hope to raise at least $400. In addition, participants are asked to bring “Food for Fido” – bags of dog food to help feed the dogs at the shelter. Swanson said that they plan to hold Food for Fido events on a semi-annual basis.
“People get portraits of their family, but pets are just as much a part of the family,” Swanson said. She and Bagwell, who are both award-winning pet photographers, will create images that “celebrate their spirit, personality, and love they unconditionally share with us.”

“Your beloved pet will give back to all his/her furry friends who do not yet have a loving and safe environment,” said Swanson and Bagwell.
Pet owners will receive a 15-minute photography session per pet with the opportunity to purchase from special custom designed collections starting at $199. In addition to portraits and albums, jewelry, stone coasters, cutting boards, and other items can be ordered with your pet’s image.
The session fee is $35 for one dog, $60 for two dogs from the same household, and $75 for three dogs from the same household. Participants will also get goodies bags filled with donated items from local businesses like Planet Bark, Toy Dog Accessories at the Beadoir, and Naturally Dogs and Cats.
While Swanson and Bagwell anticipate that dog owners will want to participate, the portrait event is open to other types of animals as well.
“Food for Fido” will be held on Saturday, June 18, at Naturally Dogs and Cats, 10 Trumbull Street, Hartford, CT, on Saturday June 18, 2016. There are 10 sessions remaining and advance reservations are required.
