West Hartford Police are searching for a suspect who robbed Troy’s Mobil at 2507 Albany Ave. in Bishops Corner after displaying a black handgun to the clerk.

Police said that the clerk told them that the suspect said “dude” several times, “like a surfer dude from California.”

According to police the robbery was reported 10 minutes after it had occurred, and although officers arrived almost immediately the suspect was not found. A Connecticut State Police K9 attempted a track but did not locate the suspect.

Police said that the clerk described the suspect as being between 5 foot 10 and 6 feet with average build and having “brown” skin – either Hispanic or a darker-skinned white man. He was wearing a blue jacket, black pants, and possibly gloves, and had a blue bandana over his face.

The suspect displayed a black handgun, but no injuries were reported. He left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Anyone with information is asked to contact West Hartford Police at 860-523-5203.

Surveillance photos will be provided if and when they are made available.
