West Hartford Youth Football – Week Nine Game Summaries

Scores and highlights of West Hartford Youth Football games played Oct. 29-30, 2016.

The West Hartford Youth Football League (WHYFL) kicked off Week 9 of its 61st this weekend with games at Sterling Field in West Hartford, Farmington High School, and at Southington Recreation Park. The weekend included a full slate of games at the Flag (5, 6, and 7) Mighty Mite (7, 8 and 9 year olds), Pee Wee (10 and 11 year olds), and Pony (12, 13, and 14 year olds) divisions. In addition, the league welcomed the return of cheerleading and an integrated schedule with the Farmington Valley Mudhogs and Southington Valley Midget Football League at all tackle division levels.

Pony/A Level

Southington Patriots 39, Southington Chargers 6 – The Southington Patriots finished off their regular season with a 39-6 victory over the Southington Chargers Saturday at Southington Recreation Park. The Southington Patriots (5-3) finish the regular season as the #3 seed and will open the playoffs against the #6 seed Park Tavern Chargers (2-5) next Saturday at Southington Recreation Park. 

Brewer Paving Eagles 48, Farmington Black 19 – The Brewer Paving Eagles won their sixth straight game with a 48-19 victory over Farmington Black Sunday afternoon at Sterling Field. The Brewer Paving Eagles (5-2) finish the regular season as the #2 seed and will open the playoffs against the #7 seed Southington Chargers (0-8) Sunday afternoon at Conard High School.

Farmington Blue 33, Park Tavern Chargers 8 – Farmington Blue outlasted the Park Tavern Chargers 33-8 Sunday afternoon at Farmington High School. Farmington Blue (6-1) finished the regular season as the #1 seed, and will have a bye next week. The Park Tavern Chargers (2-5) finish the regular season as the #6 seed and will face the #3 seed Southington Patriots (5-3) in the opening round of the playoffs next Saturday at Southington Recreation Park.

Pony Level Playoff Schedule – Quarterfinals

#2 seed Brewer Paving Eagles vs. #7 seed Southington Chargers, Sun 11/6, 12:30 p.m. at Conard High School

#3 seed Southington Patriots vs. #6 seed Park Tavern Chargers, Sat 11/5 at Southington Recreation Park

#4 seed Northstar Wealth Partner Raiders vs. #5 Farmington Black, Sun 11/6, 5:00 p.m. at Conard High School

Dick’s Sporting Goods Patriots 26, Farmington Maroon 15 – The Dick’s Sporting Goods Patriots won their regular season finale 26-15 in a hard fought game over Farmington Maroon Sunday afternoon at Farmington High School. The Dick’s Sporting Goods Patriots (1-6) finish the regular season as the #6 seed, and will face the #2 seed Macca Plumbing Giants (5-3) Sunday afternoon at Conard High School. Farmington Maroon (0-8) enters the playoffs as the #7 seed, and will face #2 seed Farmington Blue (5-2) Sunday afternoon at Farmington High School.

Southington Panthers 44, Southington Steelers 6– The Southington Panthers defeated the Southington Steelers 44-6 Saturday afternoon at Southington Recreation Park. The Southington Panthers (7-1) enter the playoffs as the #1 seed, and will have a bye. The Southington Steelers (5-3) will enter the playoffs as the #4 seed, and will play the #5 seed West Hartford Health and Rehab Colts (4-4) next Saturday at Southington Recreation Park.

Farmington Blue 27, Macca Plumbing Giants 14 – In a hard fought game, Farmington Blue defeated the Macca Plumbing Giants 27-14 Sunday afternoon at Sterling Field. Farmington Blue (5-2) enters the playoffs as the #2 seed, and will play the #7 seed Farmington Maroon (0-8) next Sunday at Farmington High School. The Macca Plumbing Giants (5-3) enter the playoffs as the #3 seed, and will play the #6 seed Dick’s Sporting Goods Patriots (1-6) next Sunday at Conard High School.

Pee Wee Level Playoff Schedule – Quarterfinals

#2 seed Farmington Blue vs. #7 seed Farmington Maroon, Sun 11/6 12:00 p.m. at Farmington High School

#3 seed Macca Plumbing Giants vs. #6 seed Dick’s Sporting Goods Patriots, Sun11/6, 10:00 a.m. at Conard High School

#4 seed Southington Steelers vs. #5 West Hartford Health and Rehab Colts, Sat 11/5 at Southington Recreation Park

 

MIGHTY MITE/C Level

Beachland Tavern Jets 38, Bishop Photo Browns 8 – The Beachland Tavern Jets returned to their winning ways with a 38-8 victory over the Bishop Photo Browns Sunday afternoon at Sterling Field. The Beachland Tavern Jets (7-1) enter the playoffs as the #1 seed, and will have a bye in the opening round. The Bishop Photo Browns (2-6) enter the playoffs as the #6 seed, and will play the #3 seed Southington Lions (5-3) next Saturday at Southington Recreation Park.

Southington Dolphins 14, Southington Lions 12 – The Southington Dolphins outlasted the Southington Lions 1412 Saturday afternoon at Southington Recreation Park. The Southington Dolphins (5-3) enter the playoffs as the #2 seed, and will play the #7 seed Watts Group Steelers (1-6) Saturday afternoon at Southington Recreation Park. The Southington Lions (5-3) enter the playoffs as the #3 seed, and will play the Bishop Photo Browns (2-6) next Saturday at Southington Recreation Park. 

Farmington Black 12, Fishman Orthodontics Cowboys 6 – Farmington Black pulled out a victory in their regular season finale with a hard fought 12-6 victory over the Fischman Orthodontics Cowboys Sunday afternoon at Farmington High School. The same two teams will match up again next week as the #5 seed Farmington Black will travel to Conard High School Sunday morning to play the #4 seed Cowboys.
