A Conard High School freshman sustained minor injuries Tuesday afternoon after someone threw a rock at the First Student Bus that was transporting a team to a game at Hartford’s Bulkeley High School.

Conard Principal Julio Duarte said that what he believes was a rock smashed the window and hit the student in the eye.

Duarte said that the boy, who plays on the freshman basketball team, is okay. “He’s in school right now, taking his midterm exams,” Duarte said at noon Wednesday.

Duarte said he has spoken with the administration at Bulkeley High School and that they have been very supportive.

“I don’t believe we were specifically targeted. It just happened to be our bus that was going by.

According to the Hartford Courant, the incident occurred in the area of Locust Street in Hartford just before 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
