The Town of West Hartford Engineering Division is announcing that weather-permitting, the newly constructed Interstate-84 Exit 43 (Park Road) off-ramp is expected to be opened to traffic on Friday, Dec. 7, 2018.

A new traffic signal on Park Road at the intersection with the new ramps will also be put into operation, which will restore access for westbound traffic on Park Road to turn left and access I-84. The traffic signal at the end of the existing off-ramp will be permanently removed as part of this work.

Motorists are urged to use caution and reduce speeds as they travel through the new interchange.

Temporary lane shifts and short duration closures may occur along the Interstate-84 eastbound and westbound off-ramps on a temporary basis on Thursday, Dec. 6 during the nighttime and into the early morning hours to transition between the existing and the newly-constructed off-ramp.

This project is administered by the Town of West Hartford, with construction inspection services provided by Weston and Sampson Engineers, Inc. and oversight by the Office of Construction, District 1, Rocky Hill. The project started on Sept. 19, 2017 and is on schedule to be completed by the fall of 2019. The prime contractor is Paramount Construction.

The construction costs for the project are estimated to be $6,800,000 with Federal funds providing 80 percent of the costs, and the state and town each providing 10 percent.

Additional information can be found on the project website http://www.westhartfordct.gov/ParkRd.
