In a news release issued on Monday, the office of Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni released the identities of both victims of a double-murder suicide that occurred in Springfield, Massachusetts.
According to Gulluni, the victims were Khamkieo Chingvacha, 67, of Springfield, and Sachivanh Phomphanh, 47, of West Hartford.
The victims were discovered inside a residence on the 1400 block of State Street in Springfield at approximately 9:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 25, when Springfield Police responded to a report of a stabbing victim, the news release indicated.
According to police, three individuals – two adults males and an adult female – all deceased, were discovered inside the home.
The news release states that the third individual found in the home, Kung Kedjumnong, 43, of West Hartford, “is believed to have fatally stabbed both victims before taking his own life.”
No information was provided by police or the DA’s office regarding the relationship, if any, between the three individuals.
An obituary for Sachivanh Phomphanh was published on Dec. 1 in the Rutherford Source, a publication covering Rutherford County, Tennessee, indicating that her funeral was held on Sunday in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
“This remains an active investigation being conducted by the Springfield Police Department’s Homicide Unit under Captain Trent Duda and the Hampden District Attorney’s Murder Unit. Investigators have determined there is no ongoing threat to the public,” the news release states, adding that Gulluni “expresses his sympathies to the victim’s families.”
