Watkinson School, Hartford’s oldest coed independent day school for grades 6-PG, is proud to announce that Jake Halpern, co-author of New York Times best seller Nightfall, will be on campus on April 12 to meet with middle school students to discuss his latest book and his adventures as a journalist, teacher and fiction writer.

Halpern has written many well-awarded books including Braving Home (2003), Fame Junkies (2007), and Bad Paper that was recently excerpted in the New York Times Magazine. He has written pieces for The New York Times Magazine, The New Yorker, The Atlantic Monthly, The Wall Street Journal, GQ, Sports Illustrated, The New Republic, Slate, Smithsonian, Entertainment Weekly, Outside, New York Magazine, and other publications. Halpern also contributes to NPR’s All Things Considered and This American Life, and one of his stories is the basis for a new 20th Century Fox and Heyday Films movie. He is also a fellow of Morse College at Yale University where he teaches a journalism course.

Watkinson School is a co-educational day school for grades 6-PG. Founded in 1881, Watkinson is Hartford’s oldest independent school. Watkinson’s next open house is Tuesday, April 26, from 9 -11 a.m.
