Senate Bill 234 would allow 16- and 17-year-old drivers with a valid license to transport their siblings, with certain time and vehicle capacity restrictions.

A bill to allow teenage drivers to transport their siblings appeared headed to the full legislature Monday as every member of the Transportation Committee present at the committee hearing voted to advance it.

Several legislators were not present for the vote, though, and state Sen. Christine Cohen, D-Guilford, the committee chair, held the vote open to allow those members to cast a vote.
