Blumenthal Demands Reinstatement of Fired FAA Safety Workers, Citing Air Travel Risks

Included among the 400 fired are five people from Connecticut, one from the air traffic control tower at Bradley International Airport and four members of the Professional Aviation Safety Specialists who provided remote support.

U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal called Friday for the immediate reinstatement of hundreds of Federal Aviation Administration safety personnel who were recently terminated by the Trump administration.

Blumenthal, a Democrat and ranking member of the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, described the terminations as “reckless” during a news conference at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford and warned of the potential dangers they pose to air travel safety.
