A small brush fire that broke out in West Hartford Wednesday afternoon was extinguished within minutes of the fire department’s arrival, Deputy Chief Russ Duffy said.

The blaze, which was located behind a small apartment building at 21 Prescott Street in Elmwood, was reported to dispatchers at 4:07 p.m., Duffy said, and Truck 3 arrived at 4:10 p.m. Engine 5 also responded to the scene, and the fire was brought under control at 4:13 p.m.

There was some minor extension of the fire which caused damage to two sheds, Duffy said.

The origin and cause of the fire are being investigated by the West Hartford Fire Marshal’s Office.
