An Important Key to Your Child’s Success: the Parent-Teacher Relationship.
A free workshop for parents entitled “Building Meaningful Relationships with Teachers,” by long time early childhood educator and parent Beth Bye, will be offered on Monday, Dec. 1, at 6 p.m. in the Elmwood Community Center Auditorium, with a snow date of Wednesday, Dec. 3.
Dinner will be provided at 5:30 p.m. Childcare available for children age three and older by reservation. Please RSVP for the event no later than Sunday, Nov. 30 to: [email protected].
Beth will share her perspective as both an educator and a parent, and provide practical advice for strengthening your relationship with your child’s teachers. A companion workshop for teachers about building meaningful relationships with parents will be held on Dec. 2 at Noah Webster House from 3:30–5 p.m. For more details about the teacher workshop contact [email protected].

Widely recognized as one of the state’s leading authorities on early childhood education, Beth Bye received her BA and MA in Child Development from the University of New Hampshire. Prior to becoming a State Senator, Ms. Bye served as program director of Trinity College’s Community Child Care and the School for Young Children at the University of Saint Joseph. Ms. Bye received a “Friend of the Family Award” in 2013 from the Connecticut Family Resource Alliance in recognition of her advocacy on behalf of quality early childhood programs in Connecticut, and also received “Legislator of the Year” awards in 2009 and 2011 from the Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance.
Great by 8 is a community collaborative focused on improving access to high quality services in the areas of early childhood education and health.
