Mark your nature calendar as The New Children’s Museum will hold the first butterfly release of the season on Friday, May 29.

Once again this summer, the Museum is host to the Winged Wonders Butterfly Exhibit where you step inside and find yourself immersed in a world of butterflies. This mesmerizing exhibit will give families an experience like no other.

Functioning as a home for these beautiful creatures, the Butterfly House also exhibits a garden and landscape that act as a natural environment for butterflies.

This is the museum’s third summer with the Butterfly House, which features native butterflies, including Monarchs, Painted Ladies, Mourning Cloaks, Cabbage Whites and more.

Visitors are allowed to actively participate in the butterfly release that takes place every Friday morning throughout the summer.

Take a seat and enjoy the view or read the signs to learn more about the creatures and plants that surround you. Family members of all ages will enjoy the breathtaking displays of color and nature.

Our Roaring Brook Nature Center also has a not-to-be-missed outdoor butterfly garden.

The New Children’s Museum is positioned as a premier STEAM education center integrating science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Home to over 100 live animals, the Museum features hands-on science exhibits, out-of-this-world digital planetarium shows, and programs for young children and families. The New Children’s Museum and Roaring Brook Nature Center are the region’s premiere destinations for science and nature exploration.

The New Children’s Museum and Preschool are located at 950 Trout Brook Dr. in West Hartford and Roaring Brook Nature Center is located at 70 Gracey Rd. in Canton. More information is available at www.TheChildrensMuseumCT.org.
