Everyone is invited to our vibrant Eid Celebration on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Blue Back Square (60 Isham Road), West Hartford, CT. This free-entry event is a beautiful opportunity to come together as a community and celebrate a cherished tradition rooted in unity, gratitude, and joy.

Why are we holding this event and why you should come?

Muslims around the world celebrate two major holidays each year: Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. This event commemorates Eid al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice. It honors the story of Prophet Ibrahim’s (Abraham’s) devotion and willingness to sacrifice for God, serving as a powerful reminder of faith, compassion, and giving. Eid al-Adha is celebrated through prayer, acts of charity, and family gatherings. It is a time for reflection, generosity, and strengthening bonds within the community.

This Eid festival is more than just a holiday celebration. This event fosters cross-cultural understanding, celebrates West Hartford’s diversity, and creates cherished memories for families and friends. Whether you are part of the Muslim community or simply curious and open to learning, this event welcomes everyone.

What can you expect?

Get ready for a festive, family-friendly atmosphere filled with lights, music, and the aroma of mouthwatering international cuisine, shopping and more. As you explore the event, you’ll enjoy:

  • Live cultural performances showcasing music, dance, and traditions from cultures that celebrate Eid and reflect the rich traditions and artistic expressions from across the Muslim world.
  • Delicious international dishes, both savory and sweet, from a variety of cuisines. Food and Items for Sale: Indulge in flavorful options from our food vendors, including biryani, kebabs, gyros, samosas, falafel, halal tacos and burgers, chicken wings, and more.
  • Beverages include chai, coffee, and tea with traditional sweets.
  • Eid shopping booths feature embroidered traditional clothing, jewelry and hijabs, handmade crafts and sweaters, and Islamic calligraphy and decorative arts.
  • Fun and interactive activities for children and families, including henna art and face painting, twisting balloons, LED light-up toys, popcorn, and cotton candy.

Please arrive on time so you don’t miss out on the many exciting things we have planned. Let’s come together to make this year’s Eid al-Adha Festival a day filled with joy, unity, culture, and community spirit.
