In celebration of the League’s 95th year anniversary, the Junior League of Hartford will launch a new fundraiser called, The JLH Volunteerathon: The Junior League of Hartford Volunteer Marathon. For 26.2 hours straight, Junior League of Hartford members will volunteer in area non-profits throughout the Greater Hartford area who can use their “woman power” to make an impact in the community! The JLH Volunteerathon kicks-off Mother’s Day weekend, beginning on Friday, May 6, 2016, at 4 p.m. and ending 26.2 hours later, on Saturday, May 7, at 6:12 p.m.

“We are so excited to announce the League’s latest fundraiser: The JLH Volunteerathon. This is a grass-roots effort to highlight what it is that our League does best – volunteering to make an impact in the Greater Hartford Community,” says Junior League of Hartford President, Julie Krug. “It is with great pride and pleasure that we kick-off this inaugural fundraising event during our 95th anniversary year.”

The growing list of community partners who will be collaborating with the Junior League of Hartford for this event include: Habitat Restore (Bloomfield), Riverfront Recapture, Junior Achievement, HARC, Gifts of Love (Avon), the John J. Driscoll United Labor Agency, the Clothes Horse, the YWCA, the New Children’s Museum, Hartford’s Camp Courant, Playhouse on Park and My Sister’s Place. For a list of the latest community partners, visit the Junior League of Hartford website at: www.JLHartford.org.

Much like a typical marathon running race, the general public can donate funds to support the JLH Volunteerathon by contributing online through the JLH website or through a JLH Member’s individual Active.com volunteer fundraising page. Each JLH member will have their own volunteer page to raise funds to support the JLH Volunteerathon.

All funds raised will benefit the Junior League of Hartford’s community programs and projects, currently focused on Empowering Women and Girls to Overcome Obstacles. The implement and run the Career Connections for Young Women program, whose purpose is to provide high school women with a clearer understanding of their potential and a powerful vision of what they can become.

The event will culminate with a “Finish Line” party on Saturday, May 7, 2016 where sponsors, supporters, community partners and the general community are invited to join the members of the Junior League of Hartford in celebrating the event’s success. Party tickets will also be available for sale on www.JLHartford.org.
