The entire Charter Oak International Academy gathered on the front lawn of the school Monday morning to celebrate the “International Day of Peace.” The official date for the worldwide celebration is Sept. 21, but the Charter Oak community had to wait until school was open on Monday for their event.

Students in every grade made “Pinwheels for Peace” which were then “planted” on the school grounds. The entire school community had signed a peace pledge which was displayed during the celebration.

Speakers included Charter Oak fifth grader Talia Gordon-Wexler, whose family hosts “Hope for Haiti,” and Conard student Isaac Oda-Bayliss who spoke about his journey to Hiroshima.
