Conard Field Hockey Shuts Out Avon

The Conard variety field hockey team defeated Avon, 3-0, Friday in West Hartford.

Conard’s bleachers were filled with parents, students, and staff on Friday afternoon as they watched and cheered the competition of Conard and Avon’s competing field hockey teams.
The game had a thrilling start at 3:45, and was full of excitement for the Conard fans for the next 90 minutes, with the Red Wolves winning 3-0.
Conard field hockey, 8-2-1, is now on a four-game winning streak with five games left in the regular season.
Throughout the game, Conard’s team showed some amazing sportsmanship among the players as they brilliantly portrayed the school’s core value through their teamwork. This game not only meant a lot to the winning team, but also the individual players that put their all into ensuring the win. Special shoutouts go to GiGi Smith, a sophomore at Conard High School, who scored all three of Conard’s goals, Josie Goslee, a Conard junior for her assists, and Conard’s varsity goalie, Isa Repepi, for her saves.
Members of the Varsity field hockey team stated that the game was a great mark in their season, and that many were excited for the future games.
“I feel like we have a really good program,” said Merrit Harton when asked about the game and how the team has been doing this season.
“They (Avon) came out really strong, but we pulled it together after the 1st quarter and we were able to beat them,” said Repepi
“Both teams played well, but at the end of the day we put our best foot forward and got the victory,” added Mimi Dolan.
Next up for Conard is a home game vs. Lewis Mills on Monday, Sept. 29, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
