Jessica Shepherd, a 2012 graduate of West Hartford’s Conard High School, had a great sophomore season with the Mitchell College women’s basketball team.

Shepherd, a 6′ guard, was elected a co-captain as a sophomore and averaged a career-high 13.4 points for the Mariners this year. She topped the New England Collegiate Conference in three-pointers with 66 this season, an achievement that also earned her a tie for 24th place among all Division III schools. Her three-point shooting percentage was 37.3 percent – also tops in the NECC.

Shepherd was named by league coaches as an honorable mention to the All-Conference team.

The Mariners ended the season 13-13, winning 12 of their last 16 games before losing to eventual champion Regis in the NECC tournament semifinals.
