Delamar West Hartford and Artisan Restaurant, Tavern and Garden announce “A Very Delamar & Artisan Pumpkin Extravaganza, a contest of carved and decorated pumpkins. The event will run on Sunday, Oct. 29 from 4-6 p.m., on the lawn of Delamar West Hartford, 1 Memorial Rd.

West Hartford residents are invited to drop off a creatively carved or decorated pumpkin on the lawn near the outdoor fireplace. In order to enter your pumpkin, contestants are also asked to bring a nonperishable food item that will be donated to the West Hartford Food Pantry.

With cool New England evenings ahead, folks dropping off their pumpkins may enjoy either a hot chocolate or an adult “Artisan Hot Beverage,” compliments of Artisan, from 4-6 p.m. on Oct. 29.

West Hartford Mayor Shari Cantor, along with volunteers from the West Hartford Art League, will judge the carved pumpkins and declare the top three pumpkins based on creativity and entertaining design. The first place winner will receive an overnight stay at Delamar West Hartford, the second place winner will receive dinner for two to Artisan Restaurant, and the third place winner will receive a 60-minute massage from Delamar Spa West Hartford.

Winners will be contacted via email on the morning of Nov. 1, 2017.

For those who aren’t interested in scooping out the seeds, Delamar invites you to come preview the jack-o-lanterns that will be lit and placed around the great lawn. Small lights will be put inside the pumpkins and will be bright and on display from Oct. 29 through Halloween night.

The extravaganza continues inside the hotel and restaurant, as Artisan and Delamar employees will participate in an inaugural (and planned to be annual) Pumpkin Carving Contest. Their one-of-a-kind pumpkins will be on display in the Artisan Garden from now through Halloween. Guests of the hotel and restaurant, as well as the local community, are welcome to stop by and view the employee pumpkins and vote on their favorite!

View the pumpkin masterpieces from an inside view, stay and experience the Delamar for $189.00 on Sunday, Oct. 29. Mention PUMPKIN when making reservations to receive special rate.

Contestants may pick up their pumpkins on Nov. 1 by 4 p.m. Any pumpkins left behind will be sent to the pumpkin graveyard …. or composted by Blue Earth Compost.
