Early Childhood Education Information Night Planned

Do You Have Young Children? Please Join Great by 8 and the West Hartford Public Libraries for an Evening Program About West Hartford’s Wonderful Early Childhood Education and Health Resources.

An “Early Childhood Information Night” will be held on Monday, Oct. 6, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the Lower Level of the Noah Webster Library. There is no cost to attend.

The evening will begin with an information session from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on how to select an early childhood education program.  Attendees will then have the opportunity to speak personally with representatives of preschools and childcare centers in West Hartford, as well as learn about the resources offered by various local community groups focused on early childhood education and health.

Funding for this free information night is provided by Great By 8 and the West Hartford Public Libraries.

Great By 8 is a community collaborative working to ensure that all West Hartford children are Great by 8.  Focused on improving access to high quality services in the areas of early childhood education and health, Great By 8 sponsors professional development opportunities for parents and teachers, oversees School Readiness state funding, and helps to facilitate smooth transitions from preschool to kindergarten for students in the West Hartford Public Schools.  In addition, Great By 8 connects preschool and elementary school professionals to align programming, and provides data about young children in West Hartford to help direct future town-wide policies and initiatives.  The West Hartford Public Libraries consists of three branches: the Faxon Branch Library at 1073 New Britain Avenue, the Bishops Corner Branch Library at 15 Starkel Road, and the Noah Webster Library.  The mission of the West Hartford Public Libraries includes “mak[ing] the library West Hartford’s focal point for community dialog and the open sharing of ideas, and realiz[ing] the full potential of technology to improve the delivery of information to the West Hartford community.”

The Noah Webster Library is located at 20 South Main Street in West Hartford.
