[Updated] Excitement Building for Third Annual Taste of Bishops Corner in West Hartford
Audio By Carbonatix
Updated May 17, 2017:
Hurry and get your tickets. The “tasting” part of the event is fabulous, but this will be much more than a food tasting with the addition of the wine tasting (supported by Harvey’s Wine and Spirits) and with full access to The Underground’s facilities, guests can play pong, pool, and listen to live music by local talent. Massage Envy will be giving chair massages, and you can learn about martial arts with SDSS Martial Arts (brand new to Bishops Corner, as seen in Business Buzz on April 2), or learn to dance with the Arthur Murray Dance Studio instructors.
We will also welcome OCHO Café. Come have fun! More details below.
Updated May 15, 2018:
The restaurant list has been updated for the May 22 event, and some menu items have been released to get your mouth watering! Here’s what event organizers know so far:
- Harry’s Bishops Corner, always a crowd pleaser, is officially part of the event again this year.
- Also joining the event is Moe’s Southwest Grill, which, according to their site, “… isn’t a place you go to eat traditional Mexican or Tex Mex food, nor is it just burrito joint.”
- As announced previously, AbbyDabby Ice Cream and Treats will be back, and we just learned the ‘famous’ brownie sundae is coming with them (photo above).
- The Crown Market is making delicious pulled BBQ beef sliders.
- Wait, there’s more: Jim Donahue with Winam Wines will have a wine tasting (some may remember Winam Wines from the Taste of Elmwood. In case you’ve never heard of him, his wines support local non-profits).
- While food is the main draw, we have some other special exhibits including: Intensive Education Academy (IEA), Massage Envy, Companions for Living, Keating Agency Insurance, and a special appearance by Arthur Murray Dance Studio instructors.
More restaurants are joining and will be announced as soon as they are confirmed. The rest of the event details are below, and the link to buy tickets is here.
Original Story May 4, 2018:
The Taste of Bishops Corner will be celebrating its third year on May 22 in a new location and with a new nonprofit beneficiary, thanks to the generosity of The Underground (formerly The Grounds) and EDENS.

Anticipation is already building as sponsors, participants, and ticket holders await the arrival of this spring tradition in Bishops Corner. Just as the spring buds are (finally) appearing, it’s time to get your taste buds prepared to eat to your heart’s content at the Taste of Bishops Corner on Tuesday, May 22.
“Taste of Bishops Corner has always been a fun night and somehow it gets even better each year,” according to Karen Fillian. Fillian is the regional property manager for EDENS and manages Bishops Corner (where Marshalls/HomeGoods and Koma is located) and as well as the Crossroads Plaza (where Big Y is located).
This year, the Taste will be held indoors at The Underground, 740 North Main St., Lower Level Lobby Entrance. (It’s “under” Harry’s Pizza, across from the Post Office in the Crossroads Plaza section of Bishops Corner). The event kicks off at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are already selling, so don’t hesitate to click and take advantage of bulk discounts.
The Underground, which is normally open only to West Hartford high school students with proper ID, has opened its doors to host the Taste this year.
“We are really excited for the public to be able to check out this current facility our kids have been enjoying since [the organization] moved here in 2012,” commented Ronit Shoham, one of the founders and volunteers for The Underground. “The Underground (formerly the Grounds) has been in existence to provide a safe, relaxing and drug and alcohol-free place for young people to listen to local high school bands, play video games, and table games.”
The participant list will grow for sure, but guests will be happy to welcome back a crowd favorite, AbbyDabby Ice Cream and Treats. Serving over 25 flavors of all-natural, super-premium hard ice cream, soft-serve, and frozen yogurt. Last year their brownie sundaes were a big hit.
The Crown Market will participate again and never ceases to delight the guests. “I couldn’t believe when they pulled in with a Kosher hot dog cart last year,” commented event organizer Tom Hickey. “It was a huge hit, just as their baked goods were in the past.” Tom is with WHMedia who present the series of #wehaevents.
