Jewish Family Services and the Jewish Community Foundation are co-sponsoring a “lunch and learn” session titled “Caring Conversations about End of Life” on Feb. 10 from 12:30-1:45 p.m., at The Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford, to help people explore end-of-life planning and healthcare decisions. The event is free and open to the public and will include lunch and educational materials.
The program will feature Rabbi Melanie Levav, executive director of Shomer Collective, a nonprofit that specializes in end-of-life care conversations – guided by Jewish wisdom, values and practices.
Levav is a second career rabbi who pivoted her career to focus on end-of-life care and conversations, bringing more than two decades of nonprofit management, social work, Jewish education, and fundraising experience to her work. Earlier in her career, Levav founded a center for end-of-life care serving the Russian-speaking emigre community, focused on advance care planning for Holocaust survivors and their adult children.
For questions or to RSVP by Feb. 4, please email [email protected] or call the Jewish Community Foundation at 860-523-7460.
