Smith STEM School recently hosted Family STEM Night – a wonderful night that was an opportunity for Smith STEM families to come out and engage in activities centered around science, technology, engineering, and math.
On Family STEM night, held on Thursday, Oct. 19 from 6:00-7:30 p.m., families together viewed the moon with Orion telescopes, interacted with live animals from the Forest Park Zoo (hissing cockroach, cockatoo, and bearded dragon), played math games, and use their critical thinking and problem-solving skills to complete various engineering challenges like building straw rockets and designing a tower out of toothpicks and marshmallows.
In addition, Hall High School students volunteered their time to lead students in Computer Science activities.
It was an amazing night filled with 21st-century learning opportunities for all ages!
