First Church West Hartford Announces ‘Sun is Shining’ Concert Series

Outdoor Concerts at First Church West Hartford in August Include a raffle.

Free outdoor music continues in August with the First Church annual “Sun is Shining” concert series which takes place on three Tuesdays and one Thursday in August, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The public is invited to bring chairs, blankets, friends, and a picnic for these outdoor concerts.
The musicians for this year’s series by date are:
- Tuesday, Aug. 8: Anthony Carabello
- Thursday, Aug. 17: Rock Voices
- Tuesday, Aug. 22: Taylor McCoy w/Mixed Company
- Tuesday, Aug. 29: Still Kickin’ with the Big City Horns

In place of the usual free-will donation, concertgoers will have a chance to donate to the “Save the Steeple” fund with a chance at winning valuable prizes from various neighborhood businesses in West Hartford. The extensive steeple renovation started in May and is slated to be completed by mid-September.
Prizes will be organized into groups, and include movie passes, restaurant gift cards, gift basket, and lots more.
“We are grateful to the local businesses for showing their support of our Save the Steeple project,” said Julia Rose, leader of the steeple fundraising efforts. “Our list is still growing, but here are the businesses we’d like to thank publicly:
