First Church West Hartford, located in West Hartford Center at 12 South Main St., will be hosting a Live Nativity on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020, featuring a camel, llama, a donkey, two goats, sheep, and more.
A tableau depicting the scene of the most holy of nights will of course include Mary and Joseph, baby Jesus, wise ones, shepherds, and others for a poignant way for the community to mark the week leading up to Christmas. The animals will be handled by Commerford Zoo “shepherds.”
The public is invited to visit between the hours of 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., on the front lawn. A 4-minute Soundcloud recording of the story with musical accompaniment will be accessible on your cellphone. Visitors are encouraged to bring earbuds or earphones, along with a cellphone if they wish to enjoy the audio portion of the experience. All will be required to wear face masks and observe 6 feet of distance between household groups.
Free parking is accessible via the Farmington Avenue entrance to the church parking lot. The event will be held outdoors, and in the event of inclement weather, please watch the church website and Facebook page for updates. More information can be found on the Facebook event page.
