Children in grades 1 through 8 can work with former UConn Basketball player Doron Sheffer, at a special basektball clinic Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the Mandell JCC, Zachs Campus, 335 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford, CT. Participants will be grouped by grade level.

Israel born Doron Sheffer is highly recognized for his basketball career at UConn in the mid-1990s and then in Israel for Maccabi Tel-Aviv.

While under coach Jim Calhoun, Sheffer became the only player from UConn to score 1,000 points and add over 500 assists in his three varsity seasons. A former teammate of current UConn coach, Kevin Ollie, Sheffer would go on to be named to the UConn Basketball All-Century Team. After UConn, Sheffer would become equally successful at home in Israel on team Maccabi Tel-Aviv.

The cost of the clinic is $35 and $30 for Mandell JCC Members. To register for the Doron Sheffer Basketball Clinic, call the Member Services Center, 860-236-4571. There will be an additional fee of $5 if registered after Wednesday, December 3.
