Gabriella’s 7th Annual Scoop Night to Benefit Connecticut Children’s Medical Center will be held on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015, from 6 -9 p.m. outside at the stage area at Blue Back Square in West Hartford. Please note that this is a new location for the event.
Gabriella Giordano, who will turn 12 years old later this month, will be celebrating her birthday by scooping ice cream and raising funds for Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. A portion of each ice cream sale will be donated to the new state-of-the-art Cardiovascular Care Center.
Gabriella underwent successful open heart surgery in 2008 at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford. Gabriella’s Scoop Night is a way for the Giordano family to celebrate her birthday and give back to Connecticut Children’s.
Gabriella is a resident of West Hartford and will be attending seventh grade at King Phillip Middle School this fall. She has set an aggressive goal of raising $10,000 at this year’s event.
The event is open to the public, and includes live music by Fatgrip, children’s activities, door prizes, and a special appearance from Rocky the Rock Cat. Celebrity scoopers include Gabriella’s doctors and teachers, West Hartford Mayor Scott Slifka, Superintendent of Schools Tom Moore, Sergeant Eric Rocheleau from the WHPD, Radio Host Gina J from 96.5 TIC FM and Award Winning Reporter and Hartford Courant columnist, MaryEllen Fillo. [Editor’s note: I will be scooping, too!]
Hosted by Ben & Jerry’s West Hartford, presenting sponsor is Integrated Anesthesia Associates and the official media sponsor is WFSB Channel 3, with scheduled appearances by reporters Mark Dixon, Susan Raff, Erin Connolly, Mark Zinni and Courtney Zieller.
