In celebration of our Rhythm & Blues exhibit and our 2nd anniversary, award winning jazz musician Steve Davis will perform with his trio at our annual benefit on Friday June 26 at The Golden Thread Gallery.

The event begins with Steve Davis giving an art talk at 6:30 p.m. and follows with a concert and cocktail party toasting the second season of The Golden Thread Gallery. Tickets for the event are $40 and include open bar & hors d’oeuvres.

Steve Davis is an American jazz trombonist who plays hard bop, post-bop, and standards. He studied jazz under Dr. Jackie McLean at The Hartt School of the University of Hartford in Connecticut.[1] Steve joined the Hartt faculty in 1991, where he continues to teach today. Steve gained further international recognition playing in his mentor McLean’s Sextet from 1992–97 and in Chick Corea‘s Origin. Davis has been a member of the acclaimed, New York-based cooperative sextet One for All since its inception in 1996. Davis also currently plays with Larry Willis’ Quintet, The Dizzy Gillespie Alumni All-Star Big Band/Septet, leads The Steve Davis Quintet and is a fixture on the New York and Hartford jazz scenes. He has played and recorded with a long list of jazz greats including Jackie McLean, Art Blakey, Chick Corea, Freddie Hubbard and The New Jazz Composers Octet.

By displaying a collection of various perspectives on a common theme, we reveal how art can creatively illustrate the diversity of the human condition. Our name, The Golden Thread, represents the invisible, underlying connection that weaves together the spirit of humanity – through the arts The current exhibit Rhythm & Blues has work from artists as far away as India and as close as West Hartford, CT.

The gallery is located at 303 Tunxis Rd. in West Hartford, CT. Gallery Hours are: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 10 a.m.- 3 p.m., Thursday noon – 6 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. -.2 p.m.
