Hall girls swim coach John McClure is still not quite sure what he has this year.

“It’s only been about five weeks we’ve been practicing and some of them are just getting into shape,” McClure said. And that is bad news for the Warriors opponents in the CCC this season. Continuing to show depth and strength across all the strokes, Hall easily outpaced Windsor 102-75 at Cornerstone improving o 5-0 on the season.

As usual, Hall got off to a fast start taking first and second in the opening three events. From there Hall took the top three spots in the 200 freestyle and 200 IM, as well as three of the top four spots in the 50 free and 100 butterfly.

The depth of McClure’s team was once again on display throughout. Sophomores Alissa Palmer, Emmie LaSpada and C.C. Crespi went 1-2-3 in the 200 free and were followed by senior Tara Tiernan, sophomore Lindsey Schmucker and junior Olivia DeMaio sweeping the 200 IM.

Not to be outdone, the Warrior’s talented group of freshmen also performed well. Charlotte Otis (100 free) and Maggie Mantz (100 Fly), Aislinn Mitchell (500 free) all won individual events and were part of two winning relays. McClure also singled out the progress and performance of junior diver Callie Henderson, in her first season on the board for Hall. “Callie is really coming along well,” McClure said.

New state qualifying times were achieved by Kelly Tiernan (100 free), Tara Tiernan (200 I.M.) and Aislinn Mitchell (500 free).

McClure has his sights sent on the October 20th Invitational at Cornerstone where Hall will meet up with Conard, East Catholic, and South Windsor to give him a real sense of where his team stands.

“The Invitational and then the Conard dual meet which will likely determine the division champion are our biggest tests remaining on the schedule,” said McClure. All three schools defeated Hall last season, but the Warriors did knock off South Windsor earlier this season in a head to head meeting.
