The Fourth Year in “Revue” for Hello! West Hartford will be held on Monday, April 27, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., at West Hartford Town Hall. This cultural celebration grows every year and will feature more videos, music, food, and cultural displays.
We will be announcing the two Dr. Karen List Global Ambassador Award winners from Hall and Conard. These two students were selected because they promote and embrace the West Hartford global community and connect to the town’s diverse cultures.
Committed performers include student musicians from Conard, Charter Oak, Norfeldt, Duffy, Intensive Education Academy and Charisma. We are expecting Trinity Samba Ensemble, Elisheva, Indian Drumming, Nepali and Kuskalla Peruvian dancers, and East Culture Arts, Tere Luna, and Mulatto Beat, Afro-Peruvian music and more!
Restaurants like Umi Sushi, Zest 280, A Little Something Bakery, Cora Cora, Cafe Sophia, businesses like Delicacy Market, Ten Thousand Villages, Threading Henna Salon and ShopRite, and many more throughout town will be sharing their delicacies so residents can sample the many flavors of West Hartford.
Door Prizes from generous donors will be given April 27 at Town Hall! It’s not too late to sign up to join in! Email [email protected] or call 860-325-0852
The past year has been a year of building relationships for Hello! West Hartford. Great by Eight, Growing Great Schools and The Noah Webster House have all joined in events to celebrate culture. Hello! West Hartford’s obtaining of 501(c)(3) status will allow the organization to pursue their dream of a multicultural center in West Hartford.
“Hello! West Hartford offers opportunities for all cultures to come together and be celebrated,” shared Manuela Canales.
There has been a huge increase in cultural celebrations within our town with over half of our schools holding multi-cultural events now. “Students at Duffy are honoring the many countries that our parents come from and helping students understand the diversity in our great town,” said Clare Taylor, a teacher who will have students presenting a project called the Cultural Corners of the Globe. “Our students are fortunate that travel isn’t required to see and experience world cultures.”
Please come and join the celebration with Hello! West Hartford on April 27, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the West Hartford Town Hall auditorium at 50 South Main St. Contact [email protected], or call Bepsie Perry 860-810-0401, or visit hellowesthartford.org for more information.
