Connecticut families could be getting a break on child care costs with the passage of Senate Bill 1, An Act Increasing Resources for Students, Schools and Special Education, in the state House of Representatives Saturday.

The bill, which will create an investment fund to expand access to childcare, among other provisions, passed the state Senate 32-4 Friday night. House passage required a three-fifths super majority due to its financial implications. It ended up passing on a 101-45 party-line vote with five members absent or not voting.
