West Hartford Police found a large pet iguana on Wednesday night and are looking for the owner [Updated, Feb. 28]

West Hartford Animal Control posted on their Facebook page Friday that the large pet iguana found on Westmoreland Drive was successful reunited with its owner.
The owner also commented on the post, noting that the iguana’s name is Carnelia. “It’s mating season right now and she is extra wild every year but she’s on the third floor and busted out of her cage and through the screening on the window,” the owner said in a comment, adding that the family had been searching once they realized that Carnelia had escaped and expressing thanks that the iguana was found quickly.

Is anyone missing their pet iguana in West Hartford?
West Hartford Animal Control posted a thank you on their Facebook page – sharing that on Wednesday, West Hartford Police officers assisted with a “unique animal call.”
“This Iguana was found in the Westmoreland Drive area by a resident. The officers quickly removed it safely from the area. If this is your large Iguana or you have any information about it, please call West Hartford Animal Control 860-570-8818.

While iguanas are not fans of cold weather and are not native to Connecticut, this one appears to be smiling in the photo.
