Jeter Goes the Distance for Hall First Round Win in Class LL

Hall High School entered the Class LL baseball tournament as a no. 26 seed, traveling to no. 6 Newtown for first round action on Tuesday, but behind the skillful pitching of Chase Jeter and the offensive support of the Warriors’ bats, Hall beat Newtown 6-4 and is headed for the second round.

Jeter pitched a complete game Tuesday, registering nine strikeouts and no walks. On offense, Jeter also went 2 for 3 at the plate, coach Jeff Billing said.

Billing said that offensive standouts include: Danny Roth 3-4 with 2 doubles, Tim Dickson 2-3 with a double, Omar Montalvo 1-4 with a double, and Grady Brockway 2-2 with a double.

Hall travels to Fairfield to meet no. 10 Fairfield Warde in the second round of the Class LL tournament on Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
