Jewish New Year Will Be Welcomed in West Hartford With Family-Friendly Events at JCC

The Mandell JCC will bring in the Jewish New Year 5777 with events for the whole family, including readings, tastings, and hands-on activities to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, Sukkot and Simchat Torah, at various locations and at the Mandell JCC, Zachs Campus, 335 Bloomfield Ave., West Hartford, CT.

The High Holiday festivities at the Mandell JCC begin on Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, with Challah Making with PJ Library from 12:40 to 1:30 p.m. On Sunday, Sept. 25, at 10 a.m., families can choose the park of their choice to celebrate all of the Fall Holidays together at PJ Library In the Park – Bee Happy at either Eisenhower Park, West Hartford, Addison Park, Glastonbury, or Buckingham Playground, Avon.

Friday, Sept. 30, celebrate a sweet new year at the Mandell JCC with an Apple, Honey & Challah Tasting from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 5 p.m.

Fall family fun continues with hayrides, pumpkin picking and cider at PJ and Pumpkins at the Pickin’ Patch, Sunday, Oct. 16, 3 p.m. located at the Pickin’ Patch, 219 Nod Rd., Avon.

Families can celebrate the holiday of Sukkot (Festival of Booths) by making an edible sukkah, decorating the Sukkah and listening to PJ Library stories at one of three Sukkah locations throughout the day on Wednesday, Oct. 19, beginning with Hoffman Summerwood from 12:45 – 1:45 p.m., the Mandell JCC Sukkah from 3 – 4:00 p.m., or the Valley Sports and Community Center from 4 – 5 pm.
