Jillian Gilchrest will pursue her candidacy for the 18th House District and has started a signature campaign after failing to secure the nomination from the West Hartford Democratic Town Committee on Thursday night.

On Friday, May 25, Jillian Gilchrest, candidate for State Representative in Connecticut’s 18th House District, began collecting signatures to petition for a primary election in August.

To successfully petition onto the primary ballot, Gilchrest must accrue signatures from 2 percent of the registered Democratic population of West Hartford – about 150 signatures.

Gilchrest was surrounded by dozens of supporters donning shades of pink and campaign buttons at Thursday night’s West Hartford Democratic Town Committee meeting. Following the Committee’s 18-5 vote to endorse candidate Rep. Andy Fleischmann, Gilchrest felt anything but discouraged.

“Our team expected this vote and we are ready and excited to get the necessary signatures to petition onto the ballot,” said Gilchrest. “Thank you to all of my supporters who showed up tonight and for standing up for what you believe in.”

For questions about how to sign the petition, supporters can visit the Gilchrest 2018 Campaign website (gilchrest2018.com) or email [email protected].
