State Representative-elect Kate Farrar (D-20th District) has been chosen to serve in two leadership positions for House Democrats in the upcoming legislative session: Deputy Majority Caucus Chair and Assistant Majority Leader.

“It is incredibly rare for a freshman legislator to serve in leadership,” said House Speaker-designate Matt Ritter. “Kate is that impressive. I knew immediately that she would be an important part of our team.”

This is a key opportunity to champion the Democratic values and policies important to so many of us in West Hartford,” said Farrar. “I thank Speaker Ritter and Majority Leader Jason Rojas for placing their trust in me.”

In these leadership roles, Farrar will work closely with the House Speaker and Majority Leader to help shape strong communication strategies around Democratic caucus policy priorities and support caucus members.

Farrar has also been appointed to serve on the Higher Education & Employment Advancement, Insurance & Real Estate, and Finance, Revenue & Bonding legislative committees.

Farrar and the entire membership of the General Assembly will be sworn into office on Jan. 6, 2021.  The 20th District covers the southern third of West Hartford.
