The Kingswood Oxford Power of Women group held its second annual community service project on Friday, April 1. This year, Ava Leshem ’24 of West Hartford organized a fresh fruit and vegetable drive to benefit families at Community First School in Hartford.
Leshem was introduced to this school as a freshman in the interdisciplinary Global Studies class. “During Covid, I learned about the food insecurity facing many families and the lack of fresh fruits and vegetables they have access to. I wanted to do something to help,” said Leshem.
A total of 16 families will receive a bag of fresh fruit and vegetables. This is the first of three fresh produce drives that the Power of Women club will support.
Now in its fourth year, Power of Women is the largest student-run organization on campus. The goal is to provide leadership and empowerment opportunities for KO students.
