Friday, Nov. 13, was a lucky day for Kingswood Oxford senior Holden White: He signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball for Wake Forest University, a Division I program.

The son of Kathy and Tom White and the brother of Landon White ’21 of Wallingford, White transferred to KO as a sophomore and immediately made his presence known on the mound.

That year, he had 40 strikeouts in 24 innings as well as a .491 batting average – the highest on the team. As a junior, his record was 4-0, with an ERA of 0.913 and 55 strikeouts in 38 innings. Opponents had a .157 batting average against him.

Over the summer of 2015, White was chosen for two elite showcases: the Area Code Baseball Games and the East Coast Pro team.

“Holden is the most talented pitcher I have had in my 15 years of coaching at KO,” said Head Varsity Baseball Coach Steve Cannata. “He always wants the ball in the biggest games, and when he pitches he brings the entire team to another level.

“I look forward to following Holden’s continued development, and I am sure he will represent himself and KO well at Wake Forest,” added Cannata.

Kingswood Oxford will host an Athletics Open House on Thursday, Dec. 3, 6 p.m., for prospective students and parents who want to learn more about the interscholastic sports program. To register, or for more information about KO in general, call the Admissions Office at 860-727-5000.
