On Wednesday, May 12, over 20 members of the Kingswood Oxford School Power of Women including students, faculty, and staff, came together in West Hartford to put together over 125 tote bags for a local non-profit called Dignity Grows. The mission of the organization is to provide individuals in need with essential comprehensive personal hygiene products, so they can attend school and work and participate in community life without interruption.
They were joined by Dignity Grows Founder and Chair Jessica Zachs, who walked the women through the process of putting a range of different products from shampoo, to toothpaste, to sanitary pads, in each tote. In the organization’s first 22 months, they have distributed more than 10,000 Dignity Totes, their signature bag of products, for those in need.
The atmosphere of the afternoon had an authentically and genuinely philanthropic vibe as the bags were loaded into cars. The destination of the shipment was Gifts of Love, a 30-year old organization dedicated to educational programming on a wide range of initiatives for people in need.
Said Power of Women founder and advisor Jayne Rotter, “Dignity Grows is an absolutely incredible organization and our KO Power of Women team was so happy to have been able to work with them for an incredible cause. They are making a real and profound impact in an area where there is a great need.”
The Power of Women is a student-run organization at Kingswood Oxford, the largest club on campus with over 75 participants.
