Dear Editor,
Congratulations to Jillian Gilchrest on her Democrat primary victory Tuesday night. It’s exciting to know, whoever West Hartford elects to represent the 18th District at our state Capitol, will be a woman!
Connecticut needs real change in Hartford to fix our broken economy. The old and the new 18th district Democrat candidates, as highlighted in the Hartford Courant and We-Ha.com articles after the August 7 debate, agree on virtually every policy and social issue. Real change can only come from someone with actionable policy differences from our former state representative and new Democrat candidate.
I have significant, actionable differences and will bring the real changes we need to fix our economy. I am a true moderate and will keep the social policies in place that are working.
As your state representative, I will be:
- Pragmatic
- Non-partisan
- A centrist
- Focused on fixing the economy
- Strong against special interests
- Committed to making the hard choices to benefit us all
Here’s why I can be all of these things for West Hartford:
- My work experience as a financial services senior executive
- My work turning around and growing businesses
- My work with environmental and LGBT groups, diversity councils in the workplace and the Parent Leadership Training Institute
- My work as a town councilwoman
- My heart, belief, and commitment to West Hartford and Connecticut
This next election is critical. It will determine if Connecticut has the leadership, courage, and vision to get back on track. I have the skills, beliefs, and proven experience to make a difference with compassion and empathy.
I can lead across both parties. Let’s move away from past failed policies and fix Connecticut together.
