To the Editor:

As parents raising three children in West Hartford, we know firsthand what makes this town exceptional. From top-ranked public schools to safe, walkable neighborhoods, West Hartford continues to be one of the most desirable places to live in the country.

Over the years, we’ve witnessed a remarkable transformation – expanded outdoor dining, smarter infrastructure, and the town’s strongest financial health in a generation. That’s why we are proud to support the Democratic team on Row A: Mayor Shari Cantor, Ben Wenograd, Deb Polun, Tiffani McGinnis, Barry Walters, and newcomer Lisa Lazarus.

Mayor Cantor’s leadership since 2004 has delivered results we can see and feel. Under her tenure, the town has successfully added 1,300 new market-rate and affordable housing units and invested in nearly every neighborhood. We’ve seen significant renovations in the Center, New Park, Park Road, and Elmwood, and the Trout Brook Trail is now complete. These investments are paying off: New families are moving here from Boston, New York, and beyond because they know what we do – West Hartford is safe, welcoming, and full of opportunity and energy.

As Morley parents, we see the direct impact of Mayor Cantor’s work. The Vision Zero policy has made walking to school and playing at Little League fields safer. Drivers are slowing down. Priorities are shifting in the right direction.

We’re also thrilled to support Lisa Lazarus, a local product with a track record of professional excellence. Lisa brings intelligence, empathy, and a genuine commitment to listening to West Hartford families.

The Row A team has consistently strengthened schools, expanded housing access, and advanced sustainability – all while preserving the quality of life that makes West Hartford feel like home.

We hope you’ll join us in voting for Mayor Cantor, Lisa Lazarus, and the entire Row A team.

Whitney and Liam Sweeney
