The Trustees of the Montessori School of Greater Hartford have named Mary McHale as the new Head of School.
McHale’s tenure at Montessori School of Greater Hartford (MSGH) spans 24 years and multiple roles. McHale most recently served as MSGH’s Director of Admissions for 12 years. McHale has also served as a classroom teacher, program coordinator, teacher mentor, and member of the Board of Trustees.
McHale has a BA in sociology from University College Cork and a master of education from Harvard University, plus Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) diplomas at both the primary and elementary levels.
In addition to her role as an administrator and teacher at MSGH, McHale is also a former parent of a student as her daughter attended the school from pre-school through ninth grade.
“Mary’s deep knowledge and understanding of MSGH’s mission, operations, and culture will serve our community well,” said Board of Trustees Chair Ellen Brown. “Mary’s love and respect for the school and its role in helping children become caring and competent individuals is evident in all that she does and we are so fortunate to have her leading the school.”
McHale succeeds Bev Smith who served as head for the 2018-2019 school year.
McHale is the 10th head of school in MSGH’s 55 years of operation. The MSGH school year kicks off on August 28.
MSGH is recognized by the Association Montessori Internationale. Through its toddler, primary, elementary and adolescent programs, it provides extraordinary educational experiences for children ages 15 months through 15 years of age. For more information please visit http://www.msgh.org
