The Mercy Community, a Continuing Care Retirement Community located in West Hartford, is pleased to announce that it will play host to nationally-acclaimed medical expert on aging, Dr. Bill Thomas, on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 8 a.m. at the Saint Mary Home Auditorium (291 Steele Road, West Hartford, CT).

Dr. Thomas, one of the most innovative pioneers in health and medicine, will be making a stop at The Mercy Community to engage in a provocative dialogue entitled “Aging Reconsidered” as part of his 30-city national “Age of Disruption Tour.” Through his presentation, Dr. Thomas will lead the audience towards new understandings of personal, economic, and cultural consequences of aging and ageism in America today.

A published author of multiple books, Thomas’ inspiring presentations, and his synthesis of imagination led the Wall Street Journal to highlight him as one of the nation’s “Top 10 Innovators” changing the future of retirement in America; US News and World Report named him as one of “America’s best leaders,” as well. The magazine noted his “startling common-sense ideas and his ability to persuade others to take a risk,” and concluded that “this creative and wildly exuberant country doctor has become something of a culture changer – reimagining how Americans will approach aging in the 21st century.”

“One cannot listen to Dr. Thomas and not come away believing that there is, indeed, a better way and that it is within our own abilities to achieve that better way,” said William J. Fiocchetta, President and CEO of The Mercy Community. “It starts with a change in perspective; very few experts can provide that perspective in such a clear and compelling fashion as can Dr. Thomas. The Mercy Community is proud to sponsor this dynamic and pioneering learning experience: ‘Aging Reconsidered.’  Whether in the field of aging services or embracing your own aging process, attending this event will be life-changing,” added Fiocchetta.

Tickets for this special event are available free of charge, but must be reserved in advance by calling 860.570.8301 or e-mailing[email protected] as space is limited.
