The pubic is invited to the Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society on March 15 and 16 for a dinner and celebration in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. This annual event is one of the most popular tavern nights held at the museum and includes a traditional dinner, drinks, and live entertainment.

Guests will enjoy a delicious meal featuring homemade Guinness Steak Pie from a secret family recipe. Sorry – grandma does not let us share the ingredients! Dinner will also include green beans, pickled beets, Irish soda bread, and dessert.

The museum is pleased to have returning for a fourth year dancers from the Coogan School of Irish Dance to entertain with traditional Irish dances. The dancers are delighted to return and be a part of the intimate and unique St. Patrick’s Day celebration. Showcasing several dances, both traditional and new contemporary choreography, the dancers will exhibit the lively joy and grace inherent in Irish dance. Many of the dancers are from West Hartford and enjoy spending time in a place they have grown up visiting and learning about.

The event will also feature live music by Thomas Hooker Hanford, performing traditional songs that combine music and storytelling. At the end of the evening, guests will be invited to play historic tavern games such as Skittles, Captain’s Mistress, and Shove Ha’penny in the lantern-lit circa 1748 birthplace of Noah Webster.

Tickets for the event are on sale now at noahwebster.yapsody.com for $40 per person, $35 for museum members. Advance registration is required. This event sells out, so please purchase early. The price includes dinner, a complimentary drink (beer or wine), live entertainment, and tavern games. Additional beer and wine will be available for purchase.

The museum would like to thank the Greater Hartford Arts Council and the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving for their continued support.
