Northwest Catholic High School in West Hartford is pleased to announce Jennifer Montoney as the School’s new Dean of Student Life and Formation.

Montoney is currently a science teacher at Northwest Catholic and one of the school’s two student deans. She earned her B.S. in biological sciences from the University of Delaware, her M.A. in educational administration from the University of Scranton, and most recently at her Catholic School Leadership Certificate from Creighton University. She has worked in education since 1999 and has taught at NWC since 2004.

When reflecting on her educational philosophy, Montoney said, “A Catholic school education provides an opportunity to educate the whole child. As Catholic educators we need to prepare our students to enter an ever-changing, complex world. They will not only need to compete in a challenging job market, but they will be faced with difficult decisions and expected to make moral judgments.” Montoney continued, “I am committed to developing strong students and building a student formation program that call students become leaders in their communities.”

The position of dean of Student Life and Formation has been redesigned to build a collaborative model of student formation as the highest priority. As the new Dean of Student Life and Formation, Montoney will be charged with collaborating across student life functions to build a team that supports student success and formation outside of the classroom. She will work closely with the school’s “LEADS” Leadership Program, Campus Ministry, student clubs, and athletic programs to ensure they are exemplifying the Northwest Catholic mission, values, and graduate profile.

Regarding Montoney’s appointment, President and head of School Christian Cashman remarked, “Jennifer Montoney brings many gifts to Northwest Catholic’s leadership team. She is a devoted Catholic educator and a woman of great faith who has a breadth of experience in leadership and teaching. She also brings an institutional knowledge and depth that will help ground the leadership team. Please join me in congratulating Jennifer in her new role.”
