From an assortment of surprise packages come some very special gifts – the gifts of storyteller Hans Christian Andersen to the children of the world. Out of a bright birthday box steps “The Steadfast Tin Soldier” to tell of his undying love for a paper dancing doll. From a basket of eggs comes the well-loved story of “The Ugly Duckling.” The trio of tales concludes with the touching romance of “The Little Mermaid” who loves a human – the story discovered in an ancient sea chest.
“Tales of Hans Christian Andersen,” adapted by Carolyn Lane, features the talents of over a dozen students and is directed by Haley Higgins ’15 and Jacquelyn Collas ’16. This one-night only event takes place on Friday, Feb. 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the Alice C. Mortensen Theater at Northwest Catholic. There is no charge for admission, but donations will be accepted.
Since 1961, Northwest Catholic’s mission has been to educate the whole person: mind, body, spirit, and soul. Enrollment for the Class of ’19 is now under way, and prospective students are invited to the Information Session at Northwest Catholic on February 4, 2015.
